- “Prevention is Better than A Cure” Health Education Program
- This program is dedicated to providing health education related to racial/ethnic disparities in chronic diseases of youth and adults with a focus on promoting a culture of wellness and prevention. Through workshops, tabling events, and other community outreach, the primary goal of this program is to raise awareness of diseases disproportionately affecting millions of Americans such as breast cancer, obesity and diabetes. The "Giving Back Is Easy" Project
- It is important for youth to feel connected to their community and to take pride in it. This program offer opportunities for students to participate in service-learning projects that promote social change and civic engagement.
Get Involved
Intern or Volunteer
If you are an adult and interested in volunteering, you must be 21 years of age or older. National background checks are also required. Soar Mentoring Program is an approved student learning host site for both Charles County Board of Education and Bishop McNamara High School (Forestville, Maryland). Service learning credits will be provided for student volunteers. Internships are also available for student wishing to gain job experience. Students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to apply. |
